What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy: Making Sense of Your Story
Have you ever felt like you're not truly yourself?
Does fear, stress or anxiety take over your ability to enjoy life?
Perhaps you find it difficult to cope with certain emotions or situations?
Maybe you are stuck repeating the same unhelpful patterns, knowing you want more but lacking the know-how or confidence to reach for it?
These deep-seated feelings can leak into every area of your life—disturbing your sleep, impacting your performance at work, creating tension in your close relationships, or simply stopping you from getting the fulfilment and joy you deserve.
If you've been searching for the 'why' behind these challenges, psychotherapy is where we make sense of your story and find the answers to enable you to move forward.
What is Psychotherapy, Really?
Simply put, it is a dedicated time and space where you can finally make sense of your thoughts, feelings, behaviour, and your story.
It is a process built on a core human truth: we all possess the innate ability to learn, heal and grow, and hold our own solutions and resources to get us where we want to be. Psychotherapy provides the structure and trust for this natural capacity to flourish. It is not about ‘fixing’ you or receiving advice; it's about trusting the resources, insight and capabilities you already carry (even if it might not feel like you do at the moment).
More Than Just Talking
In the modern world, it is rare to feel truly and deeply heard, listened to, and witnessed—without judgment, interruption, or advice. It is my job to help create a space that is empathic, non-judgemental, genuine and honest, where you can feel free to be yourself without expectations or conditions.
This experience of a positive connection between client and therapist is transformative in itself. Our relationship is at the heart of our work and forms the foundation of what we do.
How We Work Together
My approach is forward-thinking and led by you and what you want to move towards in your life. We may explore the past when you choose to, as this can be deeply helpful in understanding who we are today and how we relate to others and the world around us. We also work in the present moment to bring awareness to our emotions, thoughts and sensations in the ‘here-and-now’—exploring how this can move you towards your goals. We very much work together to go where we need to shine the light.
Our work is also integrative, meaning I creatively adapt each session to your unique needs, drawing on a comprehensive toolkit to support your journey.
Some of these methods may include: Humanistic and Person-Centred approaches, Hypnotherapy (including Ericksonian methods), Solution-Focussed therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts work, and somatic/mind-body techniques, among others.
It’s okay if this is all new to you. Rest assured, the methods we use are chosen intentionally, led by you, and tailored to ensure the maximum benefit to get you where you want to be.
